8. Floating time

I remember standing at the edge of that silent lake, where a forest once stood tall but was now drowned beneath the water. Only two tree stumps broke the stillness, remnants of a world long gone. I felt a deep connection to the place and wanted to capture its story through my lens.

I took my time, moving my tripod slowly, adjusting the composition with care. My goal was to line up the reflection of the submerged trees perfectly in the background, so they would mirror the stumps above the water. It was a patient process-small shifts, checking the frame, waiting for the light to soften.

As I pressed the shutter for a long exposure, a gentle breeze swept across the lake, carrying a few leaves across the water’s surface. Their movement blurred softly in the image, like streaks of time floating across the scene. It felt as if the forest was breathing again, if only for a fleeting moment.

That’s how “Floating Time” came to be. More than just a photograph, it became a quiet meditation on patience, change, and memory. The drowned forest, the drifting leaves, and the blurred reflections all remind me that sometimes the most meaningful moments reveal themselves when you slow down and let time unfold naturally.
